Petzl - Avao, International Version

Comfortable and Versatile harness for work at height: International version
The AVAO harness is specifically designed for workers at height. Its design is specific to work positioning and rope descent. Contoured foam on the semi-rigid waistbelt and leg loops provide comfort during use. The waistbelt features metal side attachment points, equipment loops, and tool-holder slots, allowing the user to organise all the necessary equipment for a day of work. Adjustment is quick and easy with self-locking DOUBLEBACK buckles.
The Petzl AVAO International Version shares the same comfort-focused construction as its European counterpart: widely spaced shoulder straps minimise neck chafing, sliding straps allow a full range of movement, and all contact zones are lined with breathable material to manage heat during extended shifts. Replaceable elastic leg loop bands maintain a consistent fit whether walking or working at height, while foldable metal side attachment points tuck cleanly away to prevent snagging when not in use. DOUBLEBACK self-locking buckles across the shoulder straps, waistbelt, and leg loops make adjustments straightforward throughout the day, with anti-slip devices fitted to keep settings in place.
The ventral connection point combines a metal D-ring (compatible with a PODIUM or LITEPOD work seat) with a textile loop for attaching a lanyard via a RING OPEN attachment ring. Two foldable side metal attachment points allow a positioning lanyard to be connected in double mode. Equipment is managed across five pre-shaped gear loops with protective sheaths and two slots for CARITOOL tool holders or the INTERFAST connection system.
A key distinction of the international version is the built-in fall indicator: a red marker appears on the dorsal attachment point after a fall, signalling the harness should be retired from service.
Its certification covers a broad range of global standards: CE EN 361, CE EN 813, CE EN 358, ANSI Z359.11, ANSI Z459.1, CSA Z259.10, NFPA 2500 class 3, GB 6095, and compliance with the Japanese standard for fall protection.
